VigiFlap™
The VigiFlap™ (VF) is an explosion isolation valve designed to prevent deflagration propagation from dust collecting vessels (dust collectors, cyclones, and/or filters) through upstream ductwork. The main objective of the VF is to provide safety to personnel and equipment by providing a means of explosion containment between the downstream source of the explosion and the upstream work areas.
The VF is a flow actuated flap valve available in multiple sizes ranging from ø4” to ø54” and suitable for any type of dust (organic, synthetic, and metallic). The VF is constructed with heavy-duty welded steel with a red finish, flanged inlet and outlet to allow an easy connection to any duct. The internal flap can be held open by process air flow or by the proprietary locking mechanism allowing this isolation valve to be installed in both the suction side (dirty side) and the return side (clean side) of a vessel providing a complete system safety solution.
The unique “straight through” design combined with the round domed flap allows for lower pressure drop and reduced dust accumulation inside the valve. The standard locking mechanism keeps the flap in the closed position and prevents it from re-opening during an explosion event. The inductive proximity sensor mounted next to the locking mechanism sends an immediate, automatic shutdown signal to stop the protected process upon an event. The dust level sensor located inside the bottom of the valve sends a continuous signal to the control panel to ensure operation is not compromised by dust accumulation blocking the flap from fully closing when needed.
Installation of this isolation valve must follow minimum and maximum linear distances from the protected vessel in accordance with the ATEX 16447 certification testing. With the ability of vertical, angled, or horizontal installation, and multiple elbows allowed downstream and upstream of the valve, the VigiFlap is a flexible and optimal safety solution for tight workspaces. The VigiFlap can be installed indoors or outdoors, considering the ductwork between the VF and dust vessel is rated to withstand the pressure increase from an explosion event.
The VigiFlap is ATEX Certified and NFPA 69 Compliant
